A participating jurisdiction may accept a written statement of family size and annual income from the administrator of public assistance that examines the family's income each year
home.income.safe_harbor_public_assistance_written_statement · v1.0.0
Where a family applying for or living in a HOME-assisted rental unit, or applying for or renewing HOME tenant-based rental assistance, is assisted by a form of Federal, State or local public assistance that examines the annual income of the family each year, the participating jurisdiction may accept a written statement from the Federal or non-Federal entity administering that assistance. The statement must indicate the tenant's family size and must state the amount of the family's annual income, and it must be for an income determination made within the previous 12-month period. Accepting such a statement does not relieve the participating jurisdiction of calculating adjusted income where 24 CFR 92.203(f) requires it. The regulation names TANF, Medicaid, the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and local rental subsidy programs as examples rather than as an exhaustive list.
