A change in an applicant's household composition may move them to a different unit-size list, and the owner's written policy decides whether the original application date survives

mfh.waiting_list.updating_for_household_composition_and_contact_changes · v1.0.0

The owner should update waiting lists annually or semi-annually so applicant information stays current and names that should no longer be on the list are removed. Where household composition changes, the owner must update the waiting list information and decide whether the household needs the same or a different unit size; the owner's written policy determines whether the family keeps its original application date or takes a place based on the date of the new determination of family composition. The owner must establish occupancy standards as part of the property's tenant selection plan and apply them consistently in assigning unit size to applicants. Where a property has no unit of the size the changed household now needs, the family must be notified that they are not eligible for the property and removed from further consideration, the action must be documented on the waiting list, and proper written notification must be provided. Where applicant contact information changes, the owner must note the new information and the date it was received on the application submitted by the family, and must ensure the waiting list -- manual or electronic -- is accurately updated.
