A Section 515 household's income category is determined by comparing its ADJUSTED income - not its annual income - to HUD's published limits. A very low-income household is one whose adjusted income does not exceed HUD's very low-income limit; a low-income household is one above that limit but not above HUD's low-income limit; and a moderate-income household is one above the low limit but not more than $5,500 above it. The $5,500 band has no counterpart in any HUD or section 42 limit series and is the outer eligibility ceiling for occupancy of a Section 515 unit.
